Casertasette 'English News': Servizio sperimentale per stranieri

Despite being in prison, two leading members of the Caserta organised crime circle have tried to intimidate a criminal turned state's evidence with the aim of preventing him from making comments against them to investigators. A further detention has been placed on Carmine Massaro, 42, and Antonio Pascitelli, 40. The investigations, coordinated by magistrates from the Antimafia unit in Naples, have allowed a clear picture of evidence to be built up concerning the existence between S. Felice a Cancello, S Maria a Vico and the neighbouring area of a camorra association, the Massaro clan, with the two individuals as the heads. Investigations have also acquired the declarations of the criminal turned state's evidence Giovanni Turnacco. Massaro, the instigator, and Piscitelli, the person who carried out the plan, approached and intimidated a brother of the man collaborating with the police in order that he made no comment concerning Carmine Massaro regarding his forthcoming legal examination in the hearing in the Corte of Assizes in Santa Maria Capua Vetere that sees Massaro charged with murder and the disposal of the body of Michele Affinita on 14 March 1998.
